Reflections Counselling Services. Providing an Integrative Approach to mental wellbeing support
My name is Ann Corsar. I am a qualified specialist counsellor, specialising in Integrative counselling approach to counselling and mental wellbeing support. This is primarily delivered via online and telephone counselling therapy sessions. In addition, I am also a qualified Registered Mental Health Practitioner (RMN), having over 14years of experience, working with NHS Scotland and across the private sector.
I am a registered member of a number of regulatory bodies including the Association of Holistic and Complementary Practitioners (AHCP) and the Nursing and Midwifery council (NMC). I adhere to the AHCP ethical framework for good practice, and also the ACTO Guidelines for Online Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Integrative counselling approach fits my own philosophy as it has at its very core, an unshakable belief that all people are individually unique and different, and therefore we all experiences and interpret our circumstances in our own unique ways. Because of our inherent differences, we may have differing psychological needs and/or problems that we experience from time to time and at various stages of our lives, and therefore may require a variety of relevant and evidence-based interventions that are tailored to our individual needs. Therefore, my therapy practice draws upon theories and interventions from person-centered, cognitive- behavioural and psychodynamic approaches in order to support you as you define and explore your current psychological and mental health problems.
Support may involve discussing and exploring any negative feelings that you may be struggling with, thoughts you may have, as well as any corresponding behaviours that may very well maintain your current state of unhappiness or distress. However, I can assure you that during the therapy sessions, although we will explore the problems that you are experiencing is as much detail as possible and at a pace that you are comfortable with, any treatment interventions we agree upon and implement will focus on you as an individual and what you can do, not on your condition or disability. Therapy will also focus on helping you to achieve your aspirations (and recovery goals), offering a service that is tailored to suit your needs and unique circumstances.
I am also a believer that each and every person can work towards achieving meaningful recovery if given the correct conditions. That said, the counselling and mental health and wellbeing support I offer, aims to foster a client-therapist professional relationship that is governed by honesty and accountability, a non-judgmental attitude and a full acceptance of your unique circumstances whilst being fully integrated in the relationship.
I am committed to providing online and telephone counselling services to individuals aged 18 years and above who are struggling with psychological/mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, addiction problems, low mood, grief and bereavement, stress - please visit my Facebook and psychology today pages for more details on how to access service.
